In the throng of worshipers or where two or three are gathered, we lift
hearts and voices in praise of God's holy name. As men and women of all
races and nations, ages and abilities, we talk with God, naming the sins
that cling to us and expecting to be made right once again. In all of our
worship we unite around God's Word proclaimed and heard, which compels us to
spread the good news to all. The church is a body joined in the sacraments;
we remember God's covenant through all generations and Christ's sacrifice of
body and blood for us. Together we lament the evil we do, the evil we
think, and the pervasive evil that surrounds us. We bring our firstfruits,
our unmasked selves, our pain and shame to God in quiet and jubilant
offerings of worship. We sense the Spirit's living presence in us and in our
places of worship, renewing, refreshing, and equipping us for service.
- Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory
in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and
ever! Amen.
